The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast 125 station looking to starboard and slightly forward showing the after funnel on the left with the gas turbine casing at 01 deck level and the Mk. 21 close range blind fire director at 02 deck level. A liferaft and an ammunition davit are at the deck edge. The GWS21 Seacat missile launcher is on the right with the open door of the helicopter hangar behind it. The Cunard vessel Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, is on the opposite side of the basin converting to a dual purpose transatlantic liner and cruise ship.
