The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast 138 station looking to starboard and slightly aft showing the open helicopter hangar, the type 901 radar director at 02 deck level and the forward end of the flight deck. The missile embarkation hatch in the flight deck is not properly closed. A petty officer is inside the hangar and a warrant officer is on the flight deck. The Cunard vessel Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, is on the opposite side of the basin converting to a dual purpose transatlantic liner and cruise ship.
