Medway August 9 1824
Print from Moses' 'Sketches of Shipping', entitled 'Medway August 9 1824'. Signed, dated and inscribed by the artist. Study of a Medway boatman with a four-oared gig, its name 'Hero' inscribed on the backboard of the passenger seat in the stern. Behind a two-decker warship lies moored 'in ordinary' (reserve) with her masts struck down, with a naval cutter alongside a wharf ahead of her - possibly the north end of Chatham Dockyard, though the exact topography is hard to reconcile.
