The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the junior rates mess between 23 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking forward on the centreline showing a triple tier bunk unit, five kit lockers, eight boot or dirty clothes lockers, an electric fire and a Thermotank air conditioning unit. The stairs up to 2 deck are in the foreground and an ironing board is stowed against the side of the stairs. A vertical format negative.
