The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is in the port bridge wing between 43 and 47 stations on 01 deck looking forward from 47 station showing a ready use smoke marker locker and a night marker locker against the bulkhead on the right. The watertight door to the enclosed bridge is closed. Two main broadcast loudspeakers, a telephone handset and an azimuth repeater are against the bridge screen on the left. Berthed ahead of the frigate is the general cargo motor ship Melbrook (1964) being completed by Stephen after having been launched from the Leven Shipyard at Dumbarton on 27 February 1964.
