A starboard near broadside view of the Italian Navy torpedo boat Lince (1938) moored at Venice.

A slightly distant starboard near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the Italian Navy torpedo boat Lince (1938) moored off the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and the Punta della Dogana at Venice, Italy. She was commissioned 1 April 1938 and has a full set of awnings rigged over her decks and over the accommodation ladder at her quarterdeck. Her identification letters are LC. The photographer is on a shore excursion during a cruise on the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) and he is looking north-north-west from the entrance to the Giudecca Channel with the entrance to the Grand Canal on the left. A local 2-masted fishing vessel with a short foremast and a lugsail on the mainmast is on the right. Fishing nets are hung between the masts and the lugsail is highly decorated with a number in a triangle near the peak, the letter W and the name L'Impero are on a white band and the two large letters D and T are on the main part of the sail.
