On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is in the asdic instrument compartment between 16 and 28 stations on 3 deck looking aft and to port showing the hand winch by the side of the access hatch to the hull outfit 15 (asdic type 170). Against the port side are cabinets B, C, D, E, F and G. Abaft the hatch on the centreline are cabinets H, I and J to port and three un-indentified cabinets to starboard. A telephone handset, an electric fire and a fuse panel are against the aft bulkhead.
