On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is on the centreline of the forecastle looking aft from 7 station showing the anchor cables with the port chain pipe between them, the twin headed capstans, the breakwater, the 4.5 inch gun mount, the superstructure, the MRS 3 director, the type 293 radar and the mast. The AKE1 aerial at the masthead is out of the picture. The bow of the incomplete aircraft carrier Leviathan (1945) is in the left background, laid up in Fareham Creek.
