On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962. The photographer is at 65 station on the port side of 01 deck looking aft and to starboard showing the Limbo Mark 10 mortar with the flight deck abaft it. The portable lift covers are in place on the flight deck. Laid up in Fareham Creek in the background are the Isle of Wight ferry Whippingham (1930), the incomplete aircraft carrier Leviathan (1945) and two Royal Navy Colony class light cruisers.
