Martin's Patent Anchor[?]
Fragment of a letter from Fred. Mountland [?] to George Elliot, CB, with the surviving fragment of text, the last line of the letter, reading:
"thought proper to restore her as previously fitted. I am Sir, Your Humble Servant, Fred.Mountland[?]".
Possibly unrelated to the Martin's Patent Anchor material with which it has been catalogued, as George Elliot, CB, Rear-Admiral of the Red, although heavily involved in ship design in the mid-19th century - he died in June 1863.
