On board the ocean weather ship Weather Reporter (1944) on station in the North Atlantic. The photographer is looking into an office on the starboard side of the deck amidships showing a two ring officer putting a mail canister into the corner of the space. The mail canister had been dropped into the Atlantic by a Shackleton maritime reconnaissance aircraft and retrieved by the members of the ship's crew. On the desk is an Imperial typewriter. A vertical format negative.
