On board the Royal Navy light cruiser Tiger (1945) in the North Atlantic off north-west Scotland during NATO exercise Flat Rock. The photographer is looking forward and down from the port side amidships showing the 27 feet motor whaler hitting the sea on launching during the exercise. The Tiger (1945) was the flagship of Vice-Admiral Frank R Twiss who was commanding a fleet of 46 ships drawn from six NATO nations for exercise Flat Rock which took place in the waters off Cape Wrath and Loch Ewe between 16 and 24 October 1963.
