A close view of the port bow of the French Navy destroyer Chevalier Paul (1953) under way taken from on board the light cruiser Tiger (1945) in the North Atlantic off north-west Scotland during the NATO exercise Flat Rock. The photographer is looking forward from the starboard side of 02 deck on the Tiger (1945) showing an officer being transferred by jackstay between the two ships. The officer is possibly Vice-Admiral Frank R Twiss who is known to have made a jackstay transfer between the Tiger and the French flagship during the exercise. The Tiger (1945) was the flagship of Vice-Admiral F R Twiss who commanded a fleet of 46 ships drawn from six NATO nations for the exercise which took place in the waters off Cape Wrath and Loch Ewe. Four escorts are in the distance.
