A close-up of the starboard side forward of the United States Navy attack transport Monrovia (1942) APA 31 under way in the Mediterranean during the 6th Fleet exercise Steel Link 1. The photographer is on board the stores issue ship Altair (1944) AKS 32 looking forward and to port. The two LCMs PA31-3 and PA31-4 are on the hatches between the foremast and the derrick posts and a hi-line transfer is rigged. The bow and everything aft of the forward cargo deck are out of the picture.
