The photographer is on the port side of 01 deck of the destroyer looking to port showing the fuel hose and the forward elevator of the carrier. The elevator is at hangar deck level and a twin engine, twin rudder, propeller driven aircraft, serial 7208, is on the elevator. The crew of the destroyer consisted of 10 officers and 164 crew from the US Navy with the rest of the complement being from West Germany, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Turkey as a mixed manning experiment.
