On board the Royal Navy Type 81 general purpose frigate Tartar (1960) of the 8th Frigate Squadron under way off Barbados during exercises involving the 7th Frigate Squadron (South Atlantic) and the 8th Frigate Squadron (West Indies). The photographer is on the port side of 01 deck looking to port and slightly aft showing the barrel of the port 40 mm bofors gun. In the distance steaming parallel to the Tartar (1960) is the Royal Navy type 41 frigate Lynx (1955) of the 7th Frigate Squadron, seen from just ahead of her starboard beam. Her pendant number is F27.
