On board the Royal Navy type 15 frigate Ursa (1943) of the 8th Frigate Squadron (West Indies) under way in the waters off Barbados during an exercise involving both the 7th and 8th Frigate Squadrons. The photographer is on the port side of 1 deck at 62 station looking aft and to starboard showing the 4 inch guns crews at action stations. They are wearing anti-flash gear, some are holding 4 inch fixed ammunition and one is loading a shell. The gun mount is trained to starboard and a ready use ammunition locker is abaft the mounting. In the background is the Type 41 frigate Lynx (1955) of the 7th Frigate Squadron (South Atlantic).
