A Ningpo junk anchored at Wusong.

A starboard view, just aft of the broadside, of a three-masted Ningpo junk anchored off Woosung/Wusong. The sails are furled to the lowered yards. The sheer line is pronounced and the vessel appears to have minimal freebaord amidships. The deck appears to be loaded with people and goods just before the main mast. There are two men on deck at the stern. A small pram-bowed dinghy is lashed to the starboard quarter and another hangs off the stern. In the distance, behind the junk, is a low shoreline.

The original negative envelope was labelled: 'Ningpo junk. Woosung, 1900, Sept 24th'
