A Chinese grave, near Hong Kong.
A view of a Chinese grave built into a tree-less hillside. The structure is an omega-shaped tomb built of stone, in a stepped fashion, with a central headstone, which would have included the details of the deceased. Behind this is a earthen mound where the coffin rests with the feet at the headstone. There is a further similar, but smaller grave in the background on the left.
The identity of Chek Wan is not clear, although it also features as a caption for N64435 and described as near Canton River. N64442 also states Chek Wan Bay. Tide Cove is to the entrance to the Shing Mun River, on the north side of Hong Kong.
The original negative envelope was labelled: 'a Chinese grave, near HK, Tide Cove [crossed out] Chek Wan. Nov 1900'.
