A distant stern view of the Royal Navy destroyer Cavalier (1944), pendant D73, passing under the Forth Bridge in the Firth of Forth. The photographer is on board the following frigate Rapid (1942) looking forward from the starboard side of 01 deck. Her crew are on the forecastle preparing to form up for Procedure Alpha. The ships are returning to Rosyth after the race to win the trophy for 'The Fastest Ship in the Fleet', a race that Cavalier won by a mere thirty yards after two hours of hard steaming covering 64 miles.
