On board the Royal Navy frigate Rapid (1942) during the Maritime Air Defence Exercise Highwood which took place in the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea. The photographer is on the starboard side of 01 deck looking forward over the forecastle showing the Royal Fleet Auxiliary oiler Wave Chief (1946) well ahead refuelling the frigate Keppel (1954) to port and the destroyer Cavalier (1944) to starboard.
