A port side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary oiler Wave Chief (1946) under way during the Maritime Air Defence Exercise Highwood which took place in the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea. Her pendant number is A265. She is in the process of refuelling the destroyer Cavalier (1944), pendant D73, to starboard. The photographer is on board the frigate Rapid (1942) looking forward and to starboard from the port side at 01 deck level as she approaches the Wave Chief (1946) to refuel from her.
