The photographer is on board the Royal Navy Type 15 frigate Wakeful (1943) and he is looking north-west from the eastern end of the review lines showing the Royal Yacht Britannia (1953) passing between lines C and D followed by the Belgian command ship Zinnia (1967) on the right. At the head of line C is the Italian guided missile cruiser Andrea Doria (1963). The ships are dressed overall.
