A slightly distant view of two Westland Wessex HAS.1 helicopters on the landing area at the forward operating base of a detachment of 845 Naval Air Commando Squadron at Nanga Gaat in the jungle of Sarawak, which operated from 19 August 1963 to 23 June 1965 during the Indonesian and Malaysian Confrontation. The Westland Wessex HAS.1 helicopter XS 127 coded B/B is on the left with a number of the local populace near it. The helicopter XS 116 coded N/B is on the right. In the foreground is a small wooden building on stilts with a wooden tiled roof which has decorative carvings, possibly representing elephant trunks and tusks, at both ends of the ridge.
