Fighting vessels at anchor against a coastal view, probably in Scapa Flow, about 1917
A liquid watercolour study, apparently on a fine morning, of three warships at anchor or moorings, probably in Scapa Flow. The vessel on the left is a pre-Dreadnought battleship, probably one of the 'King Edward VII'-class. She has awnings rigged aft and amidships. The ship to the right of centre is a light cruiser and the vessel on the right seems to be based on a 'Marksman'-class destroyer leader which were only built from 1916-17.
