The Otrabanda district of Willemstad, Curacao.

The Otrabanda district of Willemstad, Curacao. The photographer is on board a passenger cruise ship bound outward looking west as the ship passes through the open Queen Emma pontoon swing bridge, the end of which is on the right. The quayside is lined with Dutch flags on flagpoles and a large number of motor cars are parked in the square next to the quay. The buildings fronting Santa Anna Bay include the Wonder Bar and the Hotel Americano and in the background is the Theater Brion. The festivities may be in celebration of the wedding of Princess Juliana of the Netherlands to Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld on 7 January 1937.
