The photographer is looking south-east along De Ruyterkade showing small sailing vessels berthed on the left as the floating market and they all have awnings rigged above their decks. Bags of produce are stacked on the quayside and some are in the back of a lorry and some are being wheeled across the road on a sack truck towards The People's Grocery Store.
