The photographer is at the eastern end of the basin looking south-west showing a number of sloop rigged sailing vessels alongside the De Ruyterkade and they all have awnings rigged over their decks. The buildings fronting De Ruyterkade incluse the Curacao Hardware Co., WIMCO (West Indian Mercantile Co. Ltd.) and La Corona.
