X Beach at Cape Helles on the Gallipoli peninsula.

X Beach on the north-west side of Cape Helles on the Gallipoli peninsula. The photographer is looking north-east along the coast from high ground overlooking the beach. This is also known as Implacable Beach as it was on this beach that the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers landed from the boats of the battleship Implacable (1899) on 25 April 1915. A vertical format negative.
