The old town at Hvar, Croatia, and the Orient line passenger cruise ship Orontes (1929).
Overlooking the old town at Hvar, Croatia. The photographer is looking south-west from the Fortica on top of the hill showing the castellated wall of the Fortica stretching down the slope to the rooftops of the town. The roof mounted sign of the Palace Hotel can be seen on the left with the boat basin beyond it. In the centre is the Fabrika (the west promenade) and on the right is St. Mark's Church. The Orient Line passenger cruise ship Orontes (1929), seen from just abaft her starboard beam, is at anchor between the coast and the Paklinski Islands.
