Ships Cover for the Astraea class second class protected cruisers HMS Astraea (1893), HMS Bonaventure (1892), HMS Cambrian (1893), HMS Charybdis (1893), HMS Flora (1893), HMS Forte (1893), HMS Fox (1893) and HMS Hermione (1893). The documentation mainly relates to details of the initial design proposal, statements of dimensions and weights, armament and ammunition allowance, schemes of complement, coal endurance, correspondence with contractors supplying fittings and equipment, further documents relating to that equipment, stability calculations, reports of trials and vessel performances at sea, and alterations carried out post completion. The papers commence in August 1889 at the outset of the design phase and end in August 1919 when all remaining members of the class were about to be put up for sale.
