Ships Cover for the Centurion class second class battleships HMS Barfleur (1892) and HMS Centurion (1892). The documentation includes a very detailed design proposal and outline, statements of dimensions and weights, armament and ammunition allowance, ship's equipment such as boats and electrical fittings, schemes of complement, specifications for armour and ancillary machinery, stability calculations, reports of vessel and equipment performance, reports of vessel condition and lists of defects, alterations carried out (including early 20th Century refits), and reports of post-refit weapons trials. The papers commence in August 1889 at the outset of the design phase and end in May 1909, by which point both ships were about to be put up for sale.
