The photographer is looking south-west from the Monte Carlo shore showing the harbour entrance between the two breakwaters of Port Hercule with leading light towers on the end of each. The Prince's Palace is above the medieval fortifications of Monaco Rock on the right. An unidentified passenger vessel is moored just inside the harbour.
