The Ruhl Beach and the harbour breakwater at Nice, France. the photographer is looking east-by-south from the Promenade des Anglais above the steeply sloping beach showing a few open boats drawn up well above the water's edge and a few people on the shingle. The Hotel Suisse and a circular bastion are on Castle Hill and above the circular bastion is a large advertising sign for Grand Marnier Liquor. A lighthouse is on the seaward end of the breakwater. Mont Boron is in the centre background.
