A secluded beach to the north-north-west of Philippeville, Algeria. An Orient Line motor lifeboat number 4 is anchored just offshore and one crewman is holding an oar in the boat. Another crewman is at the water's edge with his trouser legs rolled up. A few tourists are on the beach and a square float is just offshore. One of the tourists is walking along a footpath halfway up the headland.
