A distant stern view, taken from very fine off the starboard quarter, of the Ellerman Line passenger cruise ship City of London (1907) alongside a quay in Pola harbour, Italy. She has a grey hull. The photographer is looking south-east towards the city and in the centre of the picture is the Pola Arena, a Roman amphitheatre, with the church of St. Anthony by the side of it. A few small sailing vessels are alongside the waterfront.
