Quayside view of the Swedish sail training topsail schooners Falken (1947) and Gladen (1946), moored on the River Tyne during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993
A roll film negative showing a port quarter view from the quayside of the Swedish sail training topsail schooners Falken (1947) and Gladen (1946). Both ships are moored on the River Tyne during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. Both sails are furled on the Falken's masts and three people can be seen on the deck, one on the port side, two on the starboard. The Swedish ensign is flying from a flagstaff attached to the stern. A orange lifepreserver with Flaken's name is attached to the stern on the port side. The sails on Gladen are also furled and four people are on deck, two near the mizzen mast and two near the wheel at the stern. An unidentified tug can be seen in the background off Gladen's starboard side. A number of buildings can be seen in the background on the opposite bank.
