A street scene in Punta Arenas, Chile.

A street scene in Punta Arenas, Chile. The photographer is looking south-east-by-east down a wide un-surfaced thoroughfare, possibly the F Errazuriz Z, on the slope of a hill. This part of the town is mainly residential where the majority of the properties have corrugated iron roofs. This street has an occasional light on a wooden pole which also supports electric wires. A tall lattice steel radio mast is at the waterfront on the left of the picture. Anchored out in Reloncavi Sound and seen from off her starboard bow is the Swedish passenger cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) dressed overall.
