A distant view of the outskirts of Rhodes.
A distant view of the outskirts of Rhodes. The photographer is looking north-east from a hilltop to the south-west of the city showing the west coast beaches and the scattered buildings in the southern outskirts of the city. The coast road is unsurfaced. A number of medieval windmills are on the north-west coast and the large building in the background facing the north-east shore is the Grande Albergo Delle Rose hotel. Compare this image with negative number P94629 which was taken slightly later after the coast road had been made up and the windmills had been demolished.
