The breakwaters and the Agios Nikolaos fortress and lighthouse at Mandraki harbour, Rhodes.
The breakwaters and the Agios Nikolaos fortress and lighthouse at Mandraki harbour, Rhodes. The photographer is looking east-north-east from the shore showing the bronze stag surmounting the limestone pillar on the west breakwater and the Roman she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus on the east breakwater pillar. A 2-masted schooner is berthed in the harbour close to the fortress. At anchor in the background and seen from well ahead of her starboard beam is the Orient Line passenger cruise ship Orion (1935).
