The photographer is looking south-west-by-south from the north-east corner of the harbour showing a large mooring buoy beached in the foreground near to a wooden boarded jetty. A small steamship, caiques and 2-masted schooners are berthed on the left of the picture. The Nea Agora (New Market) is on the south-west side of the harbour in the New Town and more vessels are berthed in front of it.
