The small boat harbour and the Municipal Casino at Royan, France

A number of fishing boats, dinghies, yachts and rowing boats at mooring in the harbour at Royan, France. The photographer is looking north from the breakwater and the Municipal Casino is in the background fronting the Grande-Conche Beach. It is the largest casino in France, built in 1895 and destroyed by bombs in 1945. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929). A vertical format negative.
