A distant aerial view of Castries harbour, St. Lucia, West Indies.
A distant aerial view of the harbour at Castries, St. Lucia, West Indies. The photographer is looking north-east from high ground to the south showing three cargo ships alongside the wharves, one of them being owned by the Charente S.S. Co. Ltd. (Thos. & Jas. Harrison). The ship on the left, partially obscured by trees, is the Langleeford (1925). Moored bow-on to the shore beyond the Charente ship is an unidentified cable ship, seen from abaft her starboard beam. Her hull paintwork is in poor condition and she appears to be laid up. Trees in the foreground frame the harbour.
