The village of Sogndal in Sognefjord, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway

The village of Sogndal in Sognefjord, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. The photographer is looking north-west from on board a passenger cruise ship anchored offshore and one of her motor lifeboats is returning to the ship from the shore. A few motor fishing vessels and rowing boats are alongside the wharves and quays. Nearly all of the houses are wooden built, most with tiled roofs and brick-built chimneys. On the right is a brick-built industrial building with a tall brick chimney. The hills in the background are heavily wooded.
