A view of the waterfront of Sogndal on Sognefjord, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.

A general view of the waterfront of the village of Sogndal on Sognefjord, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. The photographer is on board the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) anchored offshore. Motor fishing vessels and a motor tender from the cruise ship are alongside the wharves to the left of centre and beyond the motor tender is the Danielsens Hotel. On the right is the Loftesnes Pensionat. Nearly all of the buildings in the village are of wooden construction under tiled roofs with brick chimneys. The hill in the background is heavily wooded.
