The Skagenkaien on the east side of Vagen harbour at Stavanger, Norway.
The Skagenkaien on the east side of Vagen harbour at Stavanger, Norway. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) looking north along the Skagenkaien showing a coastal passenger/cargo steamship owned by the Hardanger Sunnhordlandske Dampskipsselskap near the rail mounted crane. A number of people, motor cars, motor lorries and a horse-drawn cart are on the quay. The buildings fronting the quay include a barber's shop and the offices of the Hardanger Sunnhordlandske Dampskipsselskap. The Valbergtårnet (watchmens observation tower), built in 1853, is in the background.
