On board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company vessel Viceroy of India (1929) under way heading for Stockholm, Sweden, in the archipelago east of the city. The photographer is on the centreline of the promenade deck aft looking aft and to starboard showing a few passengers sitting in deck chairs and standing by the ship's rail. A couple are playing quoits and a man walking along the deck has a number 76 label pinned to his lapel. The land is heavily wooded and on the left is a shoreline fortification.
