The volcano Stromboli in the Lipari Islands, Italy, seen from on board the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929). The photographer is on the centreline at the forward end of the pool enclosure looking aft and to starboard showing a man and woman in the corner of the enclosure looking towards the camera with the volcano behind them. The man is looking through binolculars. Cargo winches and the aft davit for lifeboat 17 are on the left and lifeboat 19 is beyond the samson post. The top of the volcano is obscured by cloud or steam. Negative number P95487 is similar and taken on the same occasion.
