The flying jib, jib and staysail are set. The crew, dressed in bright red foul weather clothing, are lining the deck of the schooner. A variety of moored small craft can be seen off the bow of the schooner. A harbour mooring vessel (?) with a yellow superstructure and black painted hull is immediately off the bow of the schooner. The South Shields Pier and Lighthouse are visible off the starboard side of the schooner in the background. A large group of people can be seen standing on South Shields Pier watching the sailing vessels go by.
