A view of two unidentified ketches and a Swedish schooner leaving Tynemouth harbour during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. The ketch has is white with a red stripe running the length of the top of the hull and is under full sail. Off the port quarter of the ketch is a blue hulled Swedish schooner with its three jibs set and a Swedish ensign flying from its stern. The South Shields Pier and Lighthouse are visible off the schooner's stern. On the right of the image is a small ketch with an emblem consisting of a red circle with the letters "R.S" inside on the main sail. A large group of small craft are moored on the left hand side of the image. Part of Tynemouth Pier and a partial view of a person's head are visible in the foreground.
